Here’s a slice of good news for those looking forward to seeing how the Ubuntu Phone OS stacks up. Staying true to its promise, Canonical has announced that a downloadable image for the OS will be available on February 21. Better yet, the company has another good news to announce: there will also be a downloadable image for the Nexus 4, in addition to the Galaxy Nexus.
Those interested can visit the Ubuntu Wiki page here, where Canonical will publish the installation guide on the 21st. Those attending the upcoming Mobile World Congress can also get their phones flashed at the Canonical booth.
In the meantime, those interested can try out the Glovebox app on Android. The app, which bears plenty of resemblance to the Ubuntu Phone Experience app which was removed from the Play Store, mirrors the gesture-based app-switcher found on Ubuntu Phone OS. There’s also the Ubuntu Live Wallpaper for Android, which is similar to the Welcome Screen of Ubuntu Phone. Double tapping the wallpaper will allow users to switch the default display of the live wallpaper between the time/date and battery level.
