Hands-On Preview: Nokia Lumia 620, Available In Malaysia from 11 January Onwards

When it was unveiled to the world last month, Nokia has stated that the Lumia 620 will be heading to Asia first – ahead of any other market throughout the world. True enough, here it is and Malaysia is one of the first countries in the world to receive the new Windows Phone 8 smartphone.

To be available at all Nokia Store throughout the country as well as Nokia’s roadshow in Plaza Low Yat starting from 11 January onwards (that’s tomorrow) with a price tag of RM 799, the new Nokia Lumia 620 is essentially a lower mid-range device in the Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 family alongside the higher mid-range Lumia 820 and the high-end Lumia 920.

Hit on the Read More link below to take a further look at the new device.

Technical Specifications

While we were not able to run proper performance test on the preview unit due to time limitation, we did measure its boot-up time which was around 37 seconds – not far off from our Lumia 920 which clocked around 34 seconds.

With a thickness of 11.02mm, the Nokia Lumia 620 is definitely not part of the slim design movement. The device feels solid in our hands yet it also feels compact – most probably due to its 3.8-inch display.

[L-R]: Lumia 620’s left side is empty. The Micro-USB port is located at the bottom while the 3.5mm audio jack is on top.

The touch button underneath Lumia 620’s display. They are illuminated but they are also quite dimmed if compared to Lumia 820 or 920.

[L-R] A closer look at its SIM MicroSD card slots. Lumia 620’s 1300mAh battery that is said to be able to provide up to 9.9 hours of 3G talk time and 330 hours of standby time.

[L-R] If you take a closer look at the Lumia 620’s back cover, you’ll be able to see its dual-layer nature which was conceived using a technique that Nokia called “dual-shot”. We reckoned it might look better with brighter colorways but unfortunately, there was none around the time we snapped these photos. Another unique features on the Lumia 620 is that its 3.5mm audio jack is actually located on its back cover, rather than attached to the actual device.

Side by side with Nokia Lumia’s current flagship device, the Nokia Lumia 920.
