Samsung earlier today signed an MoU with Alt Media, a fully-owned subsidiary of Media Prima Berhad, in an agreement where Alt Media will develop the Tonton TV application for Samsung’s SMART TVs.
Tonton is Media Prima’s online streaming service, which provides a convenient catch-up service for content aired on Media Prima channels, online portals and radio stations such as TV3, ntv7, 8TV, TV9, Gua TV, Fly TV, Hot TV, One TV and many more.
The Tonton TV application, which is currently exclusive to Samsung SMART TVs, is now in its development stages and is expected to be available by December this year. Also, most of the programmes are uploaded to Tonton’s system within two hours after airing.
Finally, Alt Media are also looking into providing HD programmes for streaming in addition to the current ones in SD.
