Last week, we covered a plea by The Oatmeal creator Matthew Inman who highlighted a public online fundraiser to fund for a Nikola Tesla museum. At the time the news was posted, the amount of pledges was just about half the amount that was needed so that the New York State would provide a matching grant that would double the pledge and thus secure the site.
Today, barely six days after the start of the pledge-taking, they have surpassed their goal of raising $850 000. An anonymous bidder pledged an incredible $33 000 that secured that secured the matching grant. Moreoever, with some 39 days left before the end of the pledge-taking, there may well be more funding from the public.
As they say nowadays, faith in humanity restored!
