Last week, Nokia posted a job listing on LinkedIn for a “Principal Software Engineer, Embedded Linux Middleware” to oversee “embedded Linux device software and hardware drivers for our exciting new products”, and what other Linux-based embedded systems are there out there before Android and webOS that has been killed by HP? People were all psyched that Nokia might finally be considering using Android on its future devices but lo and behold, your hopes and dreams have just been crushed.
Doug Dawson of Nokia soon sent out a Tweet stating that the job post is only HERE Maps support for Android.
“Hi. Our recently posted job is linked to our HERE Maps support for other platforms, including iOS and Android. Nothing more.”
Anyone of you disappointed? On the bright side, if you’re sick of Google Maps or need an alternative, Nokia’s working on HERE Maps for Android.
