It looks like the organisers behind this year’s Video Games Live Kuala Lumpur cannot catch a break. The concert has been delayed to 27 February next year due to concerns with other activities happening on the Merdeka Day weekend, i.e the planned Bersih 4.0 rally.
The organiser has issued a statement explaining the situation and the difficult decision of delaying the concert by four months.
The late postponement is primarily due to the organiser’s trying to mitigate the situation caused by the numerous events leading to Merdeka 2015, which includes the Bersih 4.0 rally, scheduled for 29 & 30 August, with a likelihood of it being held at Bukit Jalil. Taking this and the concerns of ticket holders, parents and partners over these uncertainties, and to prioritise the comfort of all concert goers, we have come to the difficult decision of postponing VIDEO GAMES LIVE. We sincerely apologise to all Video Games Live fans who have bought tickets and looking forward to the show.
We will be get in touch, and inform all ticket holders on how to proceed with confirmations for your new tickets, venue and how to apply for refunds.
As a token of our appreciation we are giving away one (1) Limited edition band to each ticket holder that does not apply for a refund. Watch out for the email.
The Stadium Putra will be closed in September for upgrading work, which prevents the concert from being held there. However, the owners of the venue have offered VGL the use of an interim structure within the Bukit Jalil grounds. The organisers are also exploring other options and will announce the new venue within the next three weeks. Ticketing for VGL will also be halted from today and will resume on 14 September.
While it is disappointing to those who were hoping to catch VGL this year, the action taken is completely understandable to ensure the safety of the concert goers. This isn’t the first time that the concert has run into trouble, and it looks like the organiser still has everything under control.
