Rumours of Apple’s upcoming wearable device, the “iWatch”, continues to rumble on. We’ve been hearing murmurs of the device for many months already, and now here’s more: the iWatch will sport a 2.5-inch display and a host of new sensors, from the basic accelerometer and gyro to the more sophisticated heart rate monitor.
According to Reuters, Apple’s iWatch will feature a 2.5-inch display made by LG. The screen will supposedly be “slightly rectangular in shape” but there is no mention if the display will be a curved one, like that found in the Samsung Gear Fit. The wearable will also pack a heart rate monitor, a feature Samsung’s latest wearables and flagship smartphones already feature.

On top of that, the iWatch will also sport “more than 10 sensors” to track various data. After all, the new iOS 8 will also feature the Healthkit platform, a centralized location for various health and fitness-related data that apps and the system can plug into. And, it is also said that Apple is working on various ways of charging the iWatch without having to plug it in. For now, Apple is said to be testing inductive, solar and motion charging options to be integrated into the iWatch. It is likely that one, if not all, of these may make an appearance in the final product when it is announced in October.
With Apple said to be aiming to ship 50 million units in its first year alone, it definitely could use a wow factor, and a non-traditional charging feature that will allow the iWatch to stay charged for longer than its competitors would definitely sway plenty of neutrals.
