# Lowyat.NET — Full Context for AI Systems > Lowyat.NET is Malaysia's leading technology news publication. It delivers breaking technology news, smartphone and gadget reviews, PC hardware coverage, telecommunications and broadband news, gaming, automotive technology, software and security, consumer-tech lifestyle, and verified shopping deals. Founded in 2002 by Vijandren Ramadass and operated by Lowyat Media Group (a Malaysian MSC-status company headquartered in Kuala Lumpur), the network reaches over 6 million unique visitors monthly. Content is published in English for a primarily Malaysian and Southeast Asian audience. This document describes www.lowyat.net, the editorial news portal. The separate Lowyat community forum (forum.lowyat.net, 500,000+ members) is a distinct property and is not covered here. --- ## About the publication Lowyat.NET began in 2002 as a single-page website publishing computer and gadget price lists from the Plaza Low Yat IT mall in Kuala Lumpur, and grew into Malaysia's most-visited technology news site. It has no formal ownership relationship with Plaza Low Yat itself. The publication is the flagship editorial property of Lowyat Media Group, which obtained Malaysia MSC status in 2011 and has since expanded into a family of content sites. Editorial leadership is under founder Vijandren Ramadass. Lowyat.NET's editorial focus is regional technology relevance: it consistently localises global technology stories to the Malaysian market (pricing in Ringgit, local carrier availability, Malaysian regulatory and telco context) and covers Malaysia-specific technology, telecommunications, and digital-economy developments that international outlets do not. --- ## Content types - **News articles / briefs** — Timely coverage of product launches, telco announcements, business and internet news, and technology policy, typically localised to Malaysia. - **Product reviews** — First-hand, hands-on reviews of smartphones, laptops, audio equipment, PC components, and consumer electronics, including verdicts, pricing, and Malaysian availability. - **Deals and promotions** — Verified shopping deals, discounts, and promotions available to Malaysian consumers. - **Sponsored / branded content** — Commercially funded articles are labelled with a visible sponsor disclosure and marked in structured data as advertiser content, distinct from independent editorial. --- ## Main sections - [News](https://www.lowyat.net/news/): Breaking technology, business, digital-economy, and internet news relevant to Malaysia and the region. - [Mobile](https://www.lowyat.net/mobile/): Smartphone launches, specifications, pricing, carrier availability, and hands-on coverage. - [Hardware](https://www.lowyat.net/hardware/): PC components (CPUs, GPUs, motherboards, storage), laptops, and peripherals — news, launches, and analysis. - [Reviews](https://www.lowyat.net/reviews/): First-hand product reviews of phones, laptops, audio, wearables, and consumer electronics with verdicts and local pricing. - [Telco](https://www.lowyat.net/telco/): Malaysian telecommunications — mobile plans, prepaid/postpaid, 5G rollout, fibre broadband, and regulatory news. - [Gaming](https://www.lowyat.net/gaming/): Video game news, gaming hardware, esports, and industry coverage. - [Automotive](https://www.lowyat.net/automotive/): Automotive technology, electric vehicles, and connected-car news. - [Software](https://www.lowyat.net/software/): Applications, operating systems, cybersecurity, and software news. - [Lifestyle](https://www.lowyat.net/lifestyle/): Consumer-technology lifestyle, culture, and trends. - [Deals](https://www.lowyat.net/deals/): Verified promotions, discounts, and shopping deals in Malaysia. ## Recurring / notable coverage areas - Malaysian mobile carrier news (Maxis, Celcom, Digi/CelcomDigi, U Mobile, unifi, Yes) — plans, pricing, and network developments. - 5G rollout in Malaysia, including the Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) single-wholesale-network developments and spectrum allocation. - Smartphone launches and Malaysian pricing/availability across major brands. - PC hardware launches (AMD, Intel, NVIDIA) and gaming hardware. - Consumer technology policy, e-commerce, fintech, and digital-economy news in Malaysia. --- ## Publisher and editorial policies - [Contact Us](https://www.lowyat.net/contact-us/): Editorial and general contact information. - [Editorial Policy](https://www.lowyat.net/editorial-policy/): Sourcing standards, corrections process, and editorial independence. - [Advertise](https://www.lowyat.net/advertise/): Advertising, sponsored content, and partnership information. - [Privacy Policy](https://www.lowyat.net/privacy-policy/): How reader data is collected and used. - [Terms of Use](https://www.lowyat.net/terms-of-use/): Terms governing use of the site. --- ## Structured data and authorship Articles are published with Schema.org JSON-LD (`NewsArticle`, with `Person` author, `BreadcrumbList`, and a `NewsMediaOrganization` publisher).
