Back in August, we reported that the Suzuki Fronx was confirmed for the Malaysian market, though its arrival date remained uncertain. Looks like the wait may be over, seeing how Suzuki Malaysia has announced that the car can now be booked.
The Suzuki Fronx recently made its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), where it was offered in three variants – GL, GX, and SGX. Of these, only the GX and SGX came equipped with mild-hybrid technology. It seems that only the hybrid variants will be offered in Malaysia, if the latest promotional material is anything to go by.
To further recap, the Fronx features a slim rectangular lighting unit that integrates the LED DRLs, position lamps, and turn signals, with the main headlights positioned just below. A similar design approach is applied at the rear, where the tail lamps combine the brake and turn signals. The SGX variant, however, stands out with LED tail lamps, along with front and rear underbody spoilers for a sportier look.
The cabin of the SUV has a nine-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GX gets fabric seats, while the SGX has leather upholstery. In addition, the SGX also comes with a head-up display (HUD), wireless charging, a 12V socket, and a USB port.
Performance-wise, the mild-hybrid pairs a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with a 12-volt lithium-ion battery and an integrated starter generator (ISG). It has an output of 101 PS and 135 Nm of torque, with a choice of either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
As of now, this is the information available on the Suzuki Fronx Hybrid. Nevertheless, the full specifications of the car are expected to be revealed during the launch of the SUV.
