Intel’s Kaby Lake processors are expected to ‘storm the gates’ early next year, and leaks of 200 series motherboards are already starting to surface. This time, it’s an ASRock motherboard called the Z270 Extreme4, which is expected to be a mid-range motherboard offering by the company.
ASRock’s upcoming Z270 Extreme4 motherboard will, of course, be supporting Intel’s seventh generation Kaby Lake processors out of the box. That said, the motherboard is also said to come with Intel Optane 3D X-point support for future SSDs. It’s worth mentioning that the Z270 Extreme4 is an ATX motherboard.
Design-wise, the ASRock Z270 Extreme4 motherboard features an all-black body that’s complemented with a striking white “X” mark in the middle. This is followed by several white accents along the left side of the motherboard and, of course, a few LED-lit areas as well.
Judging by the leaked images, it appears that the Z270 Extreme4 motherboard is fitted with two PCIe x16 slots and four DDR4 DIMM slots as well. Connectivity options include eight SATA 6Gbps ports; two M.2 32Gbps slots; eight USB 3.0 ports; two USB 3.1 (type-A and type-C) ports; along with one D-Sub, DVI and HDMI ports each.
Unfortunately, aside from the leaked images, no other information regarding ASRock’s upcoming Z270 Extreme4 motherboard was reported. Regardless, we do expect the company to officially announce its lineup of 200 series motherboards – including the Z270 Extreme4 – in the coming weeks.
