Chery today previewed the Tiggo 7 and 8 PHEV models ahead of their launch, as well as officially introduced its Super Hybrid Platform (CSH) and Direct Hybrid Transmission (DHT) system. Both of these models were first seen during the Malaysian Auto Show (MAS 2025), though information from the preview are still pretty scarce apart from additional details regarding their powertrain.
From what we know, the Chery Tiggo 7 features trapezoidal LED headlamps with double L-shaped daytime running lights, paired with a closed-off octagonal grille. At the rear, it sports a full-width taillight bar with S-shaped elements and vertical reflectors for added visual impact.
Meanwhile, the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH incorporates updated design elements from the current petrol-powered Tiggo 8. These include redesigned headlamps, a slimmer grille surround, a refreshed front bumper with functional air curtains, and flush door handles. The rear retains a familiar look, complemented by a new diffuser-like element for a sportier appearance.
Inside, the Tiggo 7 CSH features a dual-screen setup for both the driver’s display and the infotainment system, with minimal changes compared to the previous version. In contrast, the Tiggo 8 CSH introduces notable updates, including a rotary gear selector, a redesigned centre console, and updated climate controls, enhancing its premium feel.
Now coming to the CSH system, it features a 1.5L turbocharged dedicated hybrid engine with 44.5% thermal efficiency. It is paired with an electric motor, and together they produce 255 kW and 525 Nm of torque.
For both models, the CSH system comes with the DHT, which, according to the automaker, provides seamless and intelligent energy switching with up to 98.5% mechanical efficiency. It also features a 37 kWh LFP battery that offers a WLTP range of 1,200 km.
Furthermore, Chery states that this battery is dust- and water-resistant, capable of withstanding extreme temperatures of up to 95°C. It also supports 40 kW fast charging, replenishing from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes. With 6.6 kW AC charging, it takes three hours for a full charge, while a 3-pin charger requires 8.5 hours for a complete charge.
As of now, these are the only details available about the PHEV Tiggo 7 and 8 models. More information are expected to be revealed soon as the local launch for both cars are coming soon.
