The Volvo all-electric sedan, the ES90 is making its way to Malaysia sometime early in the year of 2026. This is the sixth full electric model from the automaker joining the EX90, EM90, EX40, EC40 and EX30. Additionally, the ES90 being built on the SPA2 platform, will be first to feature the 800V electrical architecture.
In terms of design, the ES90 comes with sleek roofline and the signature Thor’s hammer headlights. A smooth body-coloured panel replaces the open grille while the bumper area integrates vertical LED light strips positioned at the outer corners, which may function as additional running lights or turn signals.
The rear features the distinctive C-shaped LED taillights complemented by LED lamps in the rear window. Additionally, the slightly raised ride height offers a commanding view of the road. The exterior comes with seven colours and four alloy wheel designs with sizes ranging from 20-22 inches.
Inside, the cabin mirrors the layout seen in the Volvo EX90 with the 9-inch digital instrument cluster and a head-up display, complemented by a vertically oriented 14.5-inch central touchscreen. The infotainment system comes with Google built-in, providing access to services like Google Maps, Google Assistant, and apps from the Google Play Store.
Enhancing the in-cabin experience are six ambient lighting themes, a panoramic roof—available with an electrochromic dimming function—and a four-zone climate control system with air purification. Audio options are tiered across three sound systems, with the top-tier 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins setup offering an exclusive Abbey Road Studio mode.
The Volvo ES90 offers a versatile range of powertrains, with the entry-level variant features a single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup that delivers 245 kW and 480 Nm of torque. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h. It’s powered by a 92kWh battery, with a WLTP range of up to 650 km.

For drivers seeking more power and all-wheel-drive capability, the ES90 also comes in a Twin Motor variant. This mid-range model pairs a 130kW front motor with a 200kW rear motor, producing a combined output of 330kW and 670 Nm of torque. It completes the 0–100 km/h sprint in 5.5 seconds, while maintaining the same 180 km/h top speed.
At the top of the lineup is the Twin Motor Performance model, which significantly boosts output to 500kW and 860Nm, enabling a blistering 0–100 km/h time of just 4 seconds. Both AWD variants are powered by a larger 106 kWh battery, each offering an extended WLTP range of up to 700 km.

Thanks to its advanced 800V electrical architecture, the Volvo ES90 supports fast charging, adding up to 300km of range in just 10 minutes when connected to a 350 kW DC fast charger. It is also able to charge 10% to 80% in 20 minutes while it takes 8 to 10 hours for a full charge with 11kW Ac charger.
Details about which specific variant of the ES90 that will be offered in Malaysia remain under wraps for now. However, more information is expected to be revealed as the official launch approaches.
