Samsung has revealed that it is planning to create a new health hub that will allow users to share information from their wearables directly with their doctors. This new hub will also serve to aid users in following the advice given to them by their healthcare providers.
During appointments, doctors tend to share recommendations or suggestions to their patients, but patients may not necessarily follow this guidance as they might forget the advice given to them. In an interview with Bloomberg, Samsung health executive Dr. Hon Pak explained that the company is working to develop tools to solve this issue. In addition to this, the hub will consolidate the data from smartwatches and other devices in a central location, and encourage users to adhere to the goals set by their doctors.
Pak went on to note that there are plenty of existing innovations, but they are siloed. He added that Samsung believes in creating a single ecosystem to allow users to have a more simple experience instead of relying on multiple different apps to manage their conditions.
Given that the company’s wearables are already packed with features that keep track of the user’s health and fitness data, the development of a more healthcare-focused feature seems like a natural next step. As it stands, Samsung’s wearables are already capable of giving generalised reminders to be more active. With the new tools, the devices will be able to provide more precise advice backed by a doctor’s input.
It is worth noting that it will be a while before the health hub is launched. In the meantime, Samsung has introduced more features for its smartwatches, which will be bundled with the One UI 8 software update. Among the health and fitness tools are Antioxidant Index, Bedtime Guidance, Running Coach, and Vascular Load.
