Apple previewed visionOS 26, bringing updates and what the fruit company describes as new groundbreaking spatial experiences for the Vision Pro headset. Chief among the updates are spatial widgets integration and the use of generative AI.
“Apple Vision Pro has defined what’s possible in this new era of spatial computing, and with visionOS 26, we’re excited to push the boundaries even further,” Mike Rockwell, Apple’s vice president of the Vision Products Group, said. “With brand-new ways for Vision Pro owners to connect, explore, work together, and enjoy content, we’re incredibly excited for users to enjoy features like apps and widgets that they can arrange in their spaces, spatial scenes that offer a brand-new viewing experience for their photos, and dramatically enhanced Personas on Vision Pro.”

As mentioned, the apps inside visionOS 26 have now become spatial and can be customisable, including their frame width, colour, and depth. This applies to apps such as Clock, Weather, Music, and Photos. Apple is also introducing Spatial Scenes with the new Vision Pro operating system, allowing users to transform 2D photos using AI algorithm, into a more immersive picture, complete with new depths.
Expectedly, visionOS 26 also provides Vision Pro users new ways to browse, watch, and play, supporting native playback of videos in 180°, 360°, and wide FOV content from Insta360, GoPro, and Canon action camera.
The new visionOS 26 operating system is already available for testing via the Apple Developer Program.

On a somewhat related note, Apple is also announced tvOS 26, which brings its Liquid Glass design to Apple TV. It’s basically the one major change and update to the Cupertino company’s entertainment OS, giving the app the whole “fresh and vibrant” design. All the features are already available starting today via the Apple Developer Program, while a public beta will be made available next month. Like macOS Tahoe 26, the full update will be available as a free update sometime during Q3 2025.
