We recently heard that Apple is adjusting its iPhone launch strategy, and will have a bi-annual release instead, with the Pro models releasing in September, and the base variants coming later. The brand is also apparently planning to launch its first foldable phone next year. While the device was initially assumed to sport a clamshell design, it was then indicated that it might feature a book-style design instead. Additionally, Samsung may be supplying its display.
Apple was previously said to be working on minimising the display crease that is a common issue in foldable phones. A following report noted that the brand has seemingly managed to reduce the crease, and is proceeding with its plan to launch the foldable iPhone in 2026. However, due to the complexity of the development, a mass production in 2027 is possible.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman noted that the device will have a “nearly invisible” crease when unfolded. According to Gurman, “Apple looks to stand out from the competition by making the crease less noticeable when the phone is in the open position”. However, it should be noted that the OPPO Find N5 is an existing foldable that has been said to have a near-invisible crease as well.
Besides the state of its crease, Apple has also reportedly equipped the foldable iPhone with a better, and higher quality hinge compared to its competitors. As per Neowin, leakster Instant Digital has apparently claimed via Weibo that the phone might have a hinge made up of amorphous alloy. Also known as metallic glass, the material is said to be 2.5 times harder than titanium, thus making the device more durable. Additionally, the phone’s pricing may be over US$2,000 (~RM8,475).
