Google has officially introduced the Pixel 9a, the latest addition to its flagship smartphone lineup. This new smartphone serves as an entry-level variant in the series, retaining core features while offering a lower price point.
The Pixel 9a sports a 6.3-inch pOLED display with a 2424×1080 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 2,700 nits. It also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, an on-display optical fingerprint reader, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Under the hood, the Pixel 9a is powered by the Google Tensor G4 processor and the Titan M2 security coprocessor, along with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Additionally, the phone ships with Android 15 and promises seven years of OS and security updates.
For imaging, on the back of the phone is a 48MP main camera with Quad PD Dual Pixel autofocus and optical image stabilization (OIS), along with the same 13MP f/2.2 ultra-wide from previous models. In front, a 13MP front-facing camera is housed within a punch-hole cutout on its display. A new addition to the A-series is the Macro Focus feature, allowing close-up photography, as well as Google’s Astrophotography mode for detailed night sky shots.
Battery life is another area of improvement, with the Pixel 9a packing a larger 5,100mAh battery, claimed to last over 30 hours on a single charge. It also supports 23W wired charging and is compatible with Qi wireless charging.

Google confirms that the Pixel 9a is set to arrive in Malaysia in April with a starting price of RM2,699, available in four colours: Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris, and Peony. It is also expected to come with a three-month Google One subscription and Fitbit Premium for early adopters, though further details will only be revealed closer to the local launch date.
