Xiaomi has officially launched its latest Xiaomi 14 flagship smartphone series in China yesterday evening. The line-up is the first from the company to offer its new first-party HyperOS which replaces the MIUI operating systems, as well as the first smartphones in the world to feature Qualcomm’s recently launched next-gen flagship chipset.
Starting with the Xiaomi 14 Pro, this variant comes with a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with 1440 x 3200 px resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 3,000 nits peak brightness. It also offers Dolby Vision, HDR10+ support, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and is protected by the brand’s own Longjing Glass. Audio-wise, the phone comes equipped with Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, but lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Powering it is the aforementioned Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, along with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB internal storage. Besides that, the Xiaomi 14 Pro features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC wireless connectivity, a 4,800mAh battery with 120W wires, 50W wireless and 10W reverse wireless charging capabilities, as well as IP68 water and dust resistance.

Found on the back of the phone is a triple Leica-enhanced camera setup consisting of a new 50MP 1/1.31-inch “Light Hunter 900” primary sensor with OIS, variable aperture and Leica Summilux lens, as well as a floating 40MP 75mm telephoto with OIS and up to 3.2x optical zoom, and lastly a 50MP ultra-wide with 5cm macro capabilities. In front, situated within the punch-hole cutout on the display is a 32MP selfie camera. Xiaomi adds that the variable aperture feature is capable of shifting between f/1.42 to f/4, while video recordings via the rear camera support up to 8K resolution at 24 frames per second (fps).

Next is the vanilla Xiaomi 14 variant, which features a smaller 6.36-inch LTPO AMOLED display which also offers 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness, but offers a slightly lower resolution 1200 x 2670 pixels. Like its sibling, it too comes with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, an under-display fingerprint scanner, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, as well as IP68 water/dust resistance.

Under its hood is the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, along with up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB internal storage. Additionally, it features dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC connectivity, as well as a smaller 4,610mAh battery with 90W wired, 50W wireless and 10W reverse wireless charging capabilities.

Meanwhile, on the back of the phone is a triple Leica camera setup consisting of the same Light Hunter 900 50MP sensor but with no variable aperture, a 50MP wide-angle lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.2X optical zoom and OIS. Much like the Pro, this variant also features a 32MP selfie camera and up to 8K24p video recording capabilities via its main setup.

In China, the new Xiaomi 14 Pro is offered at a starting price of CNY4,999 (~RM3,268) and is available in Black, Silver, and Green colour options, as well as a special Titanium edition. The vanilla variant, on the other hand, starts from CNY3,999 (~RM2,614) and is offered in Black, Silver, Pink and Green colourways. Xiaomi has yet to announce the series’ availability for the global market.
