Some including high-profile influencers and politicians may have ridiculed it but the #BenderaPutih movement has clearly provided the path for many people to signal for help in these trying times. Not only have the rakyat taken immediate action by answering the call for help in their community and beyond by providing food and financial assistance, some even came out with methods to ease the process.
One of the main examples is the KitaJaga platform that was created by Terato Tech, a development house based in Bangi. Originally conceived as a web app, the platform is now available as a native app for iOS devices as well as iPad and M1-based Macs.
The user interface alongside the main functionalities of KitaJaga’s iOS app remains identical to its web app counterpart which includes the ability to signal for help or list a food bank. However, based on our quick walkthrough with the app this morning, the experience on the native app felt much faster and smoother as compared to using the web app on the Safari web browser.
Terato’s founder Reza Razali recently shared that 45,000 white flags have been raised on KitaJaga and has also recorded 1.5 million unique visits since it went live two weeks ago. When asked through Twitter regarding the Android version of the KitaJaga, Reza stated that it is coming soon although the release timeline was not mentioned in the reply.
