The release of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Series also marked the arrival of a new accessory ecosystem called MagSafe for iPhone. Despite sharing the same name as the magnetic power connector for MacBook which Apple has since discontinued and moved on to USB-C, the MagSafe for iPhone revolves around Qi wireless charging instead.
During the unveiling of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Series, the company has also revealed some of the initial first-party MagSafe accessories. Among them include the MagSafe charger itself as well as a leather wallet and several cases but the most curious of them all is the MagSafe Duo Charger.
As per its name, the MagSafe Duo Charger is designed to charge two MagSafe or Qi-supported devices at the same time. One of the charging bases can also be flipped so that users can charge their Apple Watch without the need to remove their watch bands.
Furthermore, the charger is quite compact and can be folded for easy transportation. Despite not having a concrete release date at the moment, the MagSafe Duo Charger has already been listed on Apple Malaysia’s website though for RM 589.
However, do note that the MagSafe Duo Charger does not come with a power adapter. So that is something you need to purchase separately if you don’t have any USB-C power adapter lying around.
