Xiaomi earlier today has announced that it will be launching a new model called Redmi Note 9S in Malaysia later this month. In general, this might explain the recent listing on SIRIM database, but we are certainly not familiar with the model name.
This is because there are currently only two devices that have been officially announced under the Redmi Note 9 series. Both of these devices which are the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Redmi Note 9 Pro were just announced in India earlier this week.
Even during the Redmi Note 8 series era, there was no such “S” model as well. Hence, we have no knowledge of the hardware that Xiaomi have packed into its new Redmi Note 9S or even its intended market segment.
There is a possibility that this phone could be just the Malaysian variant of either devices that the company has just launched in India. Well, guess we just have to wait for the announcement on 23 March.
