Maxis Offers Free Samsung Galaxy S8 When You Sign Up For A Galaxy S9 Or S9+ Contract

With the official arrival of Samsung latest flagships in Malaysia, local telcos have begun offering the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ devices on their respective postpaid contracts. Today, Maxis has upped the ante with a new promo, offering the Galaxy S8 for free for every eligible Galaxy S9/S9+ plan.

The promotion applies only to those who purchase either the Galaxy S9 or S9+ under the MaxisONE Plan 188, along with a new MaxisONE Share 48 supplementary plan. This criteria is pretty steep, but considering the value of the Galaxy S8, it might be worth it for some customers.

Interestingly, there is no device subsidy for the MaxisONE Plan 188 for both the Galaxy S9 64GB and Galaxy S9+ 128GB under this promotion. Unlike the MaxisONE Plan 158 and 128, where the device subsidy is between RM600 to RM1000 for the two devices, customers who opt for the MaxisONE Plan 188 will have to pay full price for the Galaxy S9 or S9+. That said, the Galaxy S8 has a retail price of RM2699 – perhaps Maxis has priced this into the overall value of the plan.

As with the other device contracts, there are no differences to the MaxisONE Plans for the Galaxy S9 and S9+. The MaxisONE Plan 188 comes with 60GB all day data, as well as unlimited free calls and texts. Customers will be required to apply for one MaxisONE Share Line at RM48 a month to receive the free Galaxy S8; the MaxisONE Plan 188 allows up to 4 Share Lines. Each MaxisONE Share Line comes with 5GB of additional data that can be shared with all lines with DataPool, and unlimited calls.

This offer is only available at Maxis Stores nationwide, and not available at the Maxis Online Store. Naturally, customers will be bound by a 24-month contract, and existing device contract owners are ineligible for this offer. Check out the promotion page for more.
