The retail box of the HTC Desire 12 has somehow made its way onto the internet; complete with device specifications printed on the back. At this point, the only thing we don’t know is what the smartphone actually looks like.
From the look of things, the Desire 12 uses a MediaTek chip with four 64-bit cores, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage with microSD support up to 2TB and a 5.5-inch 18:9 HD+ screen (1440 x 720 pixels).
Imaging is handled by a 12MP rear camera with Phase Detect AutoFocus and 1080p video recording support built in. Selfies are taken with a front-facing 5MP Back-illuminated Sensor (BSi) which could translate to decent low-light selfie shots. Powering everything is a 2,730mAh battery alongside support for dual-SIM onboard.
There is no listing on the version of Android on box, but we are likely to see Android 8.0 Oreo on the Desire 12.
HTC as a company is not fairing well in the smartphone market as it faced lackluster sales last year. Looking to return to the entry and mid-range market could help the bottom line, but it looks like an uphill battle considering the increasingly saturated mobile market.
On that note, there is no telling when HTC plans to release or announce the Desire 12. With that in mind, Mobile World Congress is just around the corner and is perhaps the most likely time for something to happen.
