Canon has officially unveiled the Malaysian availability of the new EOS M6 mirrorless camera as well as the EOS 800D and EOS 77D DSLR cameras. The mid-range entries offer significant improvements, including the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system from higher end systems.

The EOS M6 is Canon’s latest addition to the M series of mirrorless cameras. The mid-range entry is actually very capable, powered by the company’s latest DIGIC 7 image processor coupled with a 24.2MP CMOS sensor with the company’s signature Dual Pixel autofocus system.

There’s also a combination IS system combining software and a five-axis stabiliser. Besides a 9fps continuous shooting speed, the EOS M6 also packs NFC, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity for pairing with a smartphone. A 3-inch high resolution tilting LCD touchscreen rounds up the specs list.

Meanwhile, the EOS 800D is aimed at the lower-end market offering with some value for money. It packs the same 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor as the higher-end 77D, the same 45-point cross-type AF and Dual Pixel autofocus for live view shooting, and a 7650-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor and ISO range of 100-25600.

The EOS 800D also packs built-in WiFi, NFC, and Bluetooth connections, as well as a 3.2-inch vari-angle touchscreen.

Finally, the EOS 77D sits between the enthusiast level EOS 80D and the lower end 800D. Besides the 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor with 45-point cross-type AF and Dual Pixel AF in live view, the EOS 77D essentially only adds an AF-On button as well as a secondary monochrome display at the top of the camera for at-a-glance information.

All three cameras are available immediately nationwide, with a standard one-year warranty. The prices for the cameras including lens bundles are as below:

  • Body only: RM3,409
  • Body + EFM 15-45 lens: RM3,949
  • Body + EFM 18-150 lens: RM5,259
