The Xiaomi Mi 5 Likely to Be Launching in Malaysia Soon

Launched just a couple of weeks back at MWC 2016, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is perhaps one of the most anticipated smartphones from Xiaomi to date. If you’ve been eyeing this device, good news: there is a very good chance Xiaomi Malaysia is gearing up to a launch the Mi 5 here in Malaysia.

Xiaomi Malaysia has registered a device with the model number “2015105” on SIRIM, and not surprisingly, a quick Google search did not immediately reveal the identity of this smartphone. However, the SIRIM listing did mention that this device supports NFC, a feature that is present on the Xiaomi Mi 5.

That being said, the very same Xiaomi device has also been spotted in Indonesia as far back as December 2015; the Mi 5 was only officially unveiled a couple of weeks ago, which is quite odd. However, it’s worth noting that India is set to receive the Mi 5 sometime next month, and Malaysia is usually not far behind.

Regardless, we will keep a close eye on any official announcement from Xiaomi Malaysia on the Mi 5. Seeing how the company is set to launch the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 – the Snapdragon 650 variant to boot, which has proved to be quite capable – sometime next month in Malaysia, Xiaomi has a very interesting lineup set for Malaysia.
