Just last month, Western Digital unveiled a new – and very colourful – range of hard drives under the My Passport series; the My Book lineup also got a redesign, albeit not as flashy as the new My Passport drives. Now, new these hard drives are now available in Malaysia.
Aside from their new designs, these hard drives are much like their predecessors. According to Western Digital, these redesigned drives were made “in partnership with fuseproject, an award-winning industrial design and branding firm.” The company also added that these “reimagined products were built with the customer in mind.”
Although these new drives look very different from previous Western Digital drives, the company mentioned that they will still be reliable for data storage. While consumers may be enticed by these new designs and bright colours, we wish these new drives would at least have USB-C ports for future-proofing.
Regardless, these new Western Digital My Passport and My Passport for Mac drives are now in Malaysia with capacities ranging from 1TB to 4TB. The My Passport and My Passport for Mac drives retail from RM279 and RM319 respectively. The new My Book desktop hard drives are available here as well from 3TB to a whopping 10TB; it starts from RM519 for the 3TB drive.
