True to its promise, Commtiva Technology and Sharp today has officially announced the arrival of Sharp Mobile in Malaysia by launching two new Sharp smartphones in our market. As per our report last week, these new devices come in the form of Sharp M1 and Sharp Z2.

Said to be influenced by the brand’s Japanese origin, it is interesting to see that both sides of Sharp M1 are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The edges on the rear part of the smartphone are also slightly curved.

Built with a 5.5-inch full HD LTPD display, the M1 is also packed with an 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor alongside 3GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. Another attraction of this smartphone is that both of its front and rear camera are equipped with 13-megapixels sensor.

With a thickness of 7.6 mm, the 151 grams smartphone also comes standard with 2,600 mAh battery. Not to forget, the M1 also supports dual SIM cards as well as microSD card with storage of up to 64GB.

As opposed to Sharp M1, the Sharp Z2 features software navigational button instead.

Just like M1, the Sharp Z2 also carries a 5.5-inch full HD LTPS display in addition to dual SIM capability. However, other aspects of Z2 are quite different from its lower-end sibling.

Featuring a metal body, the Z2 features more powerful hardware including the beefier 2.3GHz MediaTek Helio X20 MT6797 10-core processor and more RAM at 4GB. There is also higher resolution 16-megapixels sensor in its rear camera and a larger 3,000mAh battery.

Fingerprint reader is another function that separates Sharp Z2 from Sharp M1.

The Z2 is also equipped with fingerprint reader and able to support microSD card with capacity of up to 128GB. However, the smartphone carries smaller amount of internal storage space at 32GB as  well as lower resolution 8-megapixels front camera when compared to the M1.

Covered by 12 months warranty, the new Sharp M1 goes for RM 899 while the higher end Sharp Z2 is priced at RM 1,199. Customers have the option to purchase tempered glass screen protector and cover for these devices at RM 69, once M1 and Z2 are ready to be released into the market within the first half of November 2016.
