Taking a taxi ride is about to get a whole lot more pleasant with a new MeterOn app by Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (S.P.A.D.). The app allow users to verify the driver, estimate taxi fare, rate a driver and more so not only does it make things safer for you, with the ability to report drivers, it also make it a lot safer for other taxi users in Malaysia too.
MeterOn covers licensed taxis throughout Peninsular Malaysia, including airport taxis and hired cars. Just key in the taxi’s registration into the app, and you can view information about the driver along with user feedbacks and complaints of the driver. Should the person driving the taxi not match what you see in the app, you may report it directly to MeterOn so the respective personnel can take immediate action.
In addition to that, MeterOn is packed with other features to make taxi rides more pleasant and safer. There’s a journey tracker so you can track your own journey and share it with your contacts till you arrive safely at your destination. The app will display a trail of your journey for the purpose of tracking the users’ current location.
MeterOn also has a fare estimation to ensure you do not get conned into paying more than you should. Finally, there’s an SOS alert button so users can send a pre-determined message with full ride details to a pre-set contact.
To use the app, all you need to do is download it into your smartphone, and register by providing your name, email address and phone number. An email verification is required, but you can still use the app before verifying though you must confirm your email within 30 days.
The app is available immediately for Android and iOS users. All you need to do is register your name, email and phone number to start using the app. You will need to verify your email within 30 days of activation but you can start using the app even before verification.
