Looks like there’ll be a newcomer to the Android smartphone scene here in Malaysia. Lenovo Malaysia looks set to be announcing two new Android smartphones to the Malaysian market soon, with the introduction of the P770 and S890 smartphones.

We had a very quick glimpse of the two devices, as well as a quick run-through of their specs. Find out more on the Lenovo smartphones after the break.

The first of the two phones will be the Lenovo P770. Featuring a dual-core 1.2GHz MTK 6577T processor and 1GB of RAM, the P770 has a 4.5-inch 540 x 960 IPS screen and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. There’s also 4GB of storage that is expandable up to 32GB via microSD. As for the cameras, the P770 has a 5MP rear camera with geo-tagging and LED flash, while the front has a 0.3MP module.

In addition, the P770 has several standout features. The first is the smartphone’s dual-SIM capabilities, which uses the traditional SIM size. Also, the P770 has support for USB On-The-Go, which is a feature that is increasingly rare in today’s smartphones. USB OTG allows users to reverse the standard USB connection, so they can charge batteries, read and utilize data from another phone, tablet or even portable hard drive. The P770 will ship with the USB OTG cable in the box.

Finally, the P770 sports a fake battery detection system, which prevents charging of non-Lenovo batteries on the P770, which guarantees that users will never unwittingly have their premium Lenovo battery swapped for a weaker, unreliable or even dangerous alternative. On a related note, the P770 also has Lenovo Smart Energy, which features system-level optimizations which extends battery life and enables precise battery usage management.  It is perhaps apt that Lenovo has placed such emphasis on batteries, given that this 162g device has an epic 3500mAh battery capable of up to 12.5 days of standby time.

Alongside the P770, Lenovo Malaysia will also be bringing in the S890. The S890 is a 5-inch phablet, and sports an IPS screen with a rather low 540 x 960 resolution. It is powered by the same MediaTek dual-core 1.2GHz processor as the P770, and the same 1GB of RAM. The S890 also supports up to 32GB microSD cards alongside the 4GB built-in flash storage, and comes with Android 4.1 out of the box.

While not as large as the P770’s battery, the S890’s 2250mAh user-replaceable battery still manages a standby time of up to 13 days. Also, the S890 has a larger 8MP camera than the P770, but the same 0.3MP front facing module as the S890’s smaller sibling. In addition, the S890 also features the Smart Sound technology, for perfect sound clarity even in noisy environments. And, like the P770, the S890 is also a dual-SIM device.

The S890 will also ship with the S890 Flip Cover, which has a built-in sensor that automatically switches on the phone when the cover is opened. Also, a recommended accessory is the S890 Pen, which is a capacitative stylus that most phablets today would need. Interestingly, the S890 Pen actually slots into the 3.5mm audio jack.

The Lenovo  P770 will be available in Blue, while the S890 will be available in Porcelain White or Midnight Blue. The expected retail price for the P770 will be RM739, while the S890 will retail at an expected price of RM839. Both devices are expected to be available sometime next month.
