Fans of Instagram rejoice because it looks like Instagram has recently acquired Luma, a smart video camera app that comes with a whole list of exciting features. The app first made its appearance in the Apple App Store back in 2011, and have received many updates since. It was released as the first real-time video stabilization app for iOS devices, giving you a “professional video camera in your pocket”.
So what does this mean? It means that you can look forward to see some of these features on Instagram, hopefully in the near future. According to Luma’s blog, Luma 2.8 is fitted with a list of exciting features such as real-time video stabilization, rolling shutter correction, real-time filters, pinch to zoom, unlimited HD video sharing, color grading (adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation and exposure of your video), and cinematic video.
Instagram did not mention what they will do with their acquisition and as for existing Luma users, according to Luma’s website, they will be shutting down their service and have provided an easy way for users to export their videos before it goes down. The app has already been pulled from the App Store, so I guess all we can do now is to wait for Instagram to announce what they are going to do with it.
