Why is it so slow?

ImageChristmas came and Christmas has gone and many people are returning to work and slowly trickling back to where they were a week ago. Its totally understandable that things might be a little slow around the office as the holiday mood is still fresh in the air as the new year looms around the corner. Apparently it is the same for our wonderful internet connection as well.

The forums are filled with complaints about why they cannot connect to their favourite Instant Messengers or their beloved MMORPG's whilst some people complain that they cannot visit certain websites. It has come to our knowledge that our international link is down, again, causing many of us not to be able to connect to various sites.

Updates: Earthquake off Taiwan has damaged six submarine cables affecting the internet in Asia. Several countries such as Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea are affected by three earthquakes which damaged the international link to countries such as the US. So far reports have not confirmed exactly how long will it take for them to fix it, several quotes mentioning a couple of days while others mentioned a couple of weeks.

News Reports: Bloomberg, TVNZ,

Our connection has been routed through various countries and it is rather congested at the moment. A quick jump to the TM Net's newsroom clearly shows that things are looking rather peculiar because the latest update was dated August. I remember seeing more news updates in the months of November and December.

Of course, if we do head over to Jaring's press corner, you would see a press announcement about the outage already up to inform their customers about the interruption of service.  Do not fret, you are not the only one affected by this outage. I am sure services will return back to normal soon.

Our internet line three months back we better. If the line went down for a couple of days, we as the user still happy and patient enough since the service were excellent.

Problems like bandwidth limiting to International line problems. Streamyx users are fed up with this slow internet connection. WE as customers are not getting the service what we paid for.

I think TMNet should re-think of improving it services.

TMNet should add some value services such as more online games, asking major American/European IT companies to put their website in Malaysia (e.g. instead of www.apple.com, we have www.apple.com.my or www.download.com, we have www.download.com.my) rather than depending on international sites.
