Weekly Roundup

We dig through our overflowing inbox and bring you some of this week’s noteworthy launches, product releases and future happenings. Hit the "Read More" button for the full rundown of this week's roundup.

HTC Touch Pro

Fans of the HTC Touch series will already be all too familiar with their proprietary advanced 3D touch user interface called TouchFlo, so what really sets the recently launched HTC Touch Pro apart from it’s predecessors is it’s 5-row sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The five-row QWERTY keyboard layout makes word-intensive tasks like sending emails, or working on Microsoft Office documents (yes, there actually are people who do that on a phone) a breeze. It also makes the daunting task of sending a simple text message much easier - because we all know that the bane of PDA phone users is replying an important SMS when behind the wheel (of course, only when you’re safely pulled over).

In terms of connectivity, the Touch Pro promises users a “desktop-like browsing experience”. The HSDPA enabled HTC Touch Pro is supposedly capable of achieving a 7.2 Mbps Internet connection - however, even though the device is willing, ultimately, we’re still held at the mercy of the providers.

The HTC Touch Pro will be made available from mid September 2008 at all authorized resellers at the suggested retail price of RM3,099.

Kingston Data Traveler Terra Cotta

Surprised that we’re featuring a USB flash drive? Well, quite honestly we are too because there’s only that much one can write about a flash drive, right? Apart from the fact that this nifty 4GB Data Traveler reads data at 15MB/sec, writes at 7MB/sec, and comes with a handy password protection software called SecureTraveler, it’s pretty much yet another run of the mill flash drive.

However, there’s something about the Terra Cotta motif on it that‘s distinctively quaint. Engraved in zinc, it’s probably one of the classier “decorated” flash drives of recent times - and hopefully a good sign for more artsy things to come.

Apple iPod Malaysian Launch

We also received this little gem in our mailbox yesterday - and you know what that means; Apple’s latest range of iPod’s are making their way to Malaysia! Unfortunately, it’s an invite only affair, but we promise to bring back some exclusive footage of the launch.

Stay tuned boys and girls!
