Back
when compact cameras were the rage, no one had any trouble storing all
the grainy photos on the computer. But when higher megapixels became
the norm, and almost everyone started slinging DSLRs around their
necks, hard drive manufacturers had to increase the capacity of their
products in order to stay relevant to the user's needs.
One such drive happens to be Western Digital's latest addition to their My Book range
that comes with a whopping 2TB capacity. Aimed at the growing number of
high resolution photography / high definition videography enthusiasts,
this 2TB behemoth is the largest available capacity for a single drive
system.
“The popularity among consumers of high-definition video
cameras, digital photography and digital music downloads means that
users are filling up their computers with massive amounts of digital
content as fast as they can click save.’” -- Ms Margaret Koh, WD Director of Sales, Asia South.
Various flavors of the 2TB drive are now available on the market to complement your specific computing needs - the My Book Studio Edition and Mac Edition (available next month) come with FireWire 400/800 and eSATA interfaces, the My Book Home Edition comes with a FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 interface, and the My Book Essential Edition comes with a whole load of bells and whistles that make it ideal for use with multiple computers - and will retail from RM1279 to RM1399.
