Yet another group of new laptop has just managed to equip themselves with Intel's Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) processors. This time around, they are Toshiba's new Slim series of Portégé notebook family - the T110 and T130, which was just announced for Malaysian market earlier today.
However, these new laptops are not single trick ponies though. As expected from Toshiba, these products were designed to fulfill a set of criteria that the many of modern mobile warriors would want: mobility, performances and battery power longevity with an affordable price tag.
Did Toshiba managed to hit those marks? Check out the answer after the jump.
Creating a design that defines mobility is not really a problem for the
Japanese notebook veteran. With a thinness of less than 1 inch at their
slimmest point, together with a weight of between 1.58kg to 1.76kg,
Toshiba got the mobility part covered very-very well. As usual, the
optical media drive has to go but the rest of the ports still intact: a
card reader, LAN, USB, VGA and audio ports plus a HDMI port too!
So, the tricky part is always about performance and battery life. This
is where the Intel UCLV processors come into the picture. As these
processors consume very little power, Toshiba claims that it able to
give the new Portégé up to 11 hours of battery power. This doesn't mean
that the Intel UCLV are lacking in performance though as all new
Portégé's Slim series are shipped with Windows 7, as sign of Toshiba
confidence in the processors.
Another feature that we really like about these new Toshibas are their
active hard drive protection system. The hardware-based system - which
actually has been available in older Toshiba laptops but was never
highlighted, according to Toshiba representative at the launch event -
is equipped with sensors that constantly monitor any rapid movement,
shocks and false.
If such occasion happen, the hard drive head will then be parked automatically, in order to avoid any damage to the data inside the hard
drive. You can even monitor your hard disk visually, using the monitoring software that is pre-installed into these laptops.
How about the price? The new Toshiba Portégé T110 and T130 are priced
from RM 2299 to RM 3299. Not bad, yes? Of course, before you decide
anything, check out Toshiba Computing Asia's official website

laptop.
