Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) gave citizens of Ipoh a glimpse into the benefits of living a digital lifestyle through its recent showcase at Kinta City, Ipoh as part of NTV7's ‘UrbanLive' roadshow.

The ‘UrbanLive' roadshow, powered by Streamyx, showcases various broadband applications available from TM Net, which encompasses games, music, news, education and communications channels targeted at the young, who are keen to embrace the digital lifestyle.

The roadshow kicked off in April at The Curve, Petaling Jaya, in conjunction with BlueHyppo.com's sixth anniversary celebrations. This portal serves as a hub for TM's locally developed lifestyle channels and services. To date, BlueHyppo has over 1 million registered members, making it Malaysia's most popular lifestyle and entertainment portal.

Among the highlights of the ‘UrbanLive' event in Ipoh, which was held on May 26 and 27 were BlueHyppo's content showcase, lucky draw for new Streamyx subscribers and various stage activities. The highlight of the weekend was a showcase of BlueHyppo's new travel channel, HyppTrips, which highlights photos, videos, tips, features, reviews and the latest offers of exciting holiday packages in Malaysia and overseas. HyppTrips channel is most relevant to consumers now as it provides comprehensive information for both local and international tourists in support of Visit Malaysia Year 2007. Shoppers were also treated to live performances of cultural dances like the Dayak and Buluh, Sumazau and Kuda Kepang.

Other BlueHyppo content on showcase included:

During the same event, Kinta City residents took the opportunity to sign-up for the Streamyx Super Duper Deal, which ended on May 31. Every 20th new Streamyx subscriber had a chance to take part in a lucky draw to win additional goodies like DVD players, MP3 players, mobile phones and digital cameras.

"We wanted to bring the phenomenon of "broadband" and "digital lifestyle" to the masses and I can't think of a better way to do it than to be up-close with our consumers through the "UrbanLive" roadshow. This was a great opportunity for us to showcase to the Ipoh community how they can enhance their lifestyle with broadband for learning, entertainment and communications," said Zainab Hashim, General Manager, Integrated Marketing, Malaysia Business, Telekom Malaysia Berhad.

TM's "Digital Lifestyle" concept aims to make the Internet a ubiquitous tool for Malaysians as they work, play, learn and communicate. The roadshow will be stopping across major market centres and will run till November 2007.
