Yes, it would seem that the mother of all online job sites is now making its way into Malaysia. We accidently stumbled on Monster.com.my earlier this week, and after a phone call to our über know it all online bomoh, we've got confirmation that the Monster is here and is ready to rumble.
The online job portal is a congested place as it is, who hasn't heard of Jobstreet, JobsDB, Jobs-no-more and a dozen or so less known job portals who have set up operations in Malaysia. I for one never did belief in hitting a "submit my resume to the next 100 employers" button and hope to get called up for an interview. Ok, i did try it once a long time ago, sent out my resume to every job that was out there on this one jobs site, and guess what, nobody called. Not one! Maybe i should have put up a more decent picture of myself.
So what makes Monster different? Apart from being a global brandname, Monster would appeal to a much larger crowd of prospective job seekers, not just the fresh graduates but even to high ranking CEO's. The pull of Monster would be its database of worldwide job opportunities. I've worked with a lot of Online Recruitment systems before and i would easily say that Monster is miles ahead of the competition in more ways then one.
We're not sure at the moment if Monster will be bringing in all the features it offers its US visitors to the Malaysian portal, but if it does, we'll put our money (and our bomoh's phone number) on it making it big in Malaysia.
