A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 8.0 has hit off the coast of southern Sumatera at around 7.10pm local time. The tremors have been felt across the Klang Valley area as well as some parts of Johor, according to our forum members. Reports from the Indonesian capital of Jakarta have confirmed the quake, and a tsunami warning has been issued. More reports coming up as soon as we get them.

Comment: People staying in a Hostel called Millennium court, 9floors high, felt the tremors. STationary water bottles were moving, and some CD's stacked nicely fell.

Comment: now i know why i was shaking left to right during that time, around 7 like that. i was sitting calmly on my chair infont of my computer and not just me, i also saw my clothes on hangers also swinging slowly left to right. i so small, i think ull never notice if u r on the move.
