Ricoh has launched three new desktop colour printers with its advanced GelSprinter Technology – Ricoh Aficio GX3000, GX3050N, and GX5050N. The GelSprinter Aficio desktop colour printers are ideal business solutions for SOHO users, SMEs and large enterprises with remote or satellite offices, banking and financial industries, as well as educational institutions.

Ricoh’s GelSprinter technology uses fast drying viscous ink that does not smudge, blur or bleed and is waterproof. As a result, colour print jobs come out vibrant with crisp text and high-quality graphics. The system also features an exceptionally high print speed of 29 pages per minute (ppm) for the GX3000 and GX3050N models and 30ppm for the GX5050N in both entry-level colour and monochrome printing environments. In 2005 and 2006, Ricoh’s GelSprinter Technology received the prestigious Business Equipment Research and Test Laboratories (BERTL) Best Winner award for two consecutive years.

The GelSprinter Aficio GX3000, GX3050N, and GX5050N are now available in Malaysia at suggested retail prices of RM 888, RM 1,222, and RM 1,777 respectively.

GelSprinter printers are equipped with a Level Colour print mode that automatically reduces ink thickness and thereby the density of graphic images, while maintaining normal density for text character. The result is clear, easy-to-read text with eye-catching colour at a cost per print that is about the same as black-and-white! Together with smart innovations like Duplex Printing Mode and Energy Saver, Ricoh’s GelSprinter reduces the amount of paper and supplies used while keeping operating and energy expenditures to a minimum.

Ricoh’s GelSprinter technology offers an economical alternative to laser devices while eliminating the pitfalls of traditional inkjet printers with three core technologies: uniquely formulated viscous ink, exceptionally wide print head, and an advanced electrostatic belt feeding system.

The GelSprinter Aficio desktop printers come standard with PCL5c/6 drivers and are network capable. To ensure uninterrupted print jobs, the GX3000 and GX3050N have a standard 250-sheet capacity paper tray, while the GX5050N offers double with a 500-sheet capacity tray.

Ricoh’s uniquely formulated pigment-based GelSprinter Liquid Gel ink is a bright colouration ink with high pigmentation. The concentrated ink gelatinises and dries instantly upon contact with the air, which limits spreading of the dot and prevents bleed-through that makes duplexing difficult, if not possible. Ricoh’s sun-resistant viscous ink also resists smudging and does not dissolve upon accidental contact with water.

Generating documents at a maximum 3600 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi), two-sided print jobs with vibrant colour, crisp text, and high quality graphics can now be produced easily.

Measuring 1.27” in width, Ricoh’s GelSprinter print heads are three times wider than those of conventional inkjet printers. The bigger and more durable print heads allow inks to be ejected with greater force to eliminate clogging. Not only does the permanent, extra-wide print heads lower the total cost of ownership for the life of the system, they also work in tandem for greater coverage per pass to deliver superior printing speed over inkjet printers.

Delivering outstanding image quality is also easy with Ricoh’s advanced form of piezo technology called Modulated Dot or M-Dot technology that allows the printer to change the size of the ink droplet.

Ricoh’s unique electrostatic belt feeding system contributes greatly to the speed and superior image quality of GelSprinter. To eliminate misalignment and blurring that accompanies registration problems, static electricity is utilised to hold each sheet of paper firmly in place as it travels through the paper path. As the paper is completely supported at all times, Ricoh’s GelSprinter experience fewer paper jams and ensure proper alignment for two-sided prints to deliver documents with less curling and rippling.
