What happens when 15 of the edgiest, most creative, independent directors in Malaysia get together? Well hold that thought, and throw in the creative guidance of Pete Teo and the support of P1 W1MAX into the mix, and now you’ve got a whole different situation which just happens to be called the P1 Filmmakers’ Showcase presents 15Malaysia.
Story continues after the jump.
Launched at the IMAX Cinema in Berjaya Times Square yesterday, the P1 Filmmakers’ Showcase presents 15 Malaysia is in essence a collection of 15 short films from some of the top Malaysian indie directors that include the likes of Ho Yuhang, James Lee, Tan Chui Mui, Amir Muhammad, Liew Seng Tat, Nam Ron, Benji Lim & Bahir Yeusuff, Khairil Bahar, Johan John, Woo Ming Jin, Suleiman Brothers, Linus Chung, Kamal Sabran, Desmond Ng and the late Yasmin Ahmad. All 15 films are a representation of these directors individual views towards what they think is Malaysia, as full creative freedom was given to them.
All 15 of these short films will be hosted on the ruumz website at http://www.ruumz.com/15malaysia, and they will be released over the course of the next five weeks (new movies will be uploaded every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).
In conjunction with the P1 Filmmakers’ Showcase, ruumz will also be running a Shoot and Win contest from 24 August to 30 September 2009 where budding and aspiring filmmakers like you and me are invited to submit a self directed short film that depicts your personal view on Malaysia. More information on this contest can be found on the ruumz website at http://tinyurl.com/ry8p24
