Seagate has launched nine new products, which focus on data security and increased capacity to meet the explosive worldwide demand for all types of digital content. Among the innovative products are new Maxtor storage solutions that provide simple and automatic backup, encryption and a “bare metal system restore” – all featuring updated industrial designs.

Seagate also announced the first 1 terabyte (TB) hard drive with full disc encryption for strong data security; capacity increases of up to 60GB for the Seagate D.A.V.E. (Digital Audio Video Experience) technology platform, and up to 1TB for its DB35 Series hard drives for DVRs and home media centers and the SV35 Series digital video surveillance hard drive.

The products launched included Seagate’s new Maxtor OneTouch 4 family which consisted of the Maxtor OneTouch 4, the Maxtor OneTouch 4 Plus, and the Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini. The new releases also included Seagate's • Barracuda FDE hard drives, Momentus 5400.4 hard drives and the Cheetah 15K.6 hard drive.

Consumer Solutions

Seagate’s new Maxtor OneTouch 4 family of external solutions addresses consumers’ needs for simple and convenient storage, protection, and security; features a new industrial design; and provides an enhanced interface for greater consistency and ease of use. The Maxtor OneTouch 4 family includes:

  • Maxtor OneTouch 4

The Maxtor OneTouch 4 storage solution makes it easy to set up and manage data backup, file archiving and system settings with a new easy-to-use interface. The Maxtor OneTouch 4 is available for Mac or PC platforms in 250GB, 500GB or 750GB capacities.

  • Maxtor OneTouch 4 Plus

The Maxtor OneTouch 4 Plus is an elegantly simple, full-featured backup and storage solution, that includes Maxtor SafetyDrillTM software to prepare, boot, and recover your PC's entire internal hard drive contents in case of system failure or virus/spyware infection. The Maxtor OneTouch 4 Plus is available in capacities up to 750GB and includes two levels of security to guard against unauthorized use of a lost or stolen drive. With the OneTouch 4 Plus storage solution, you can sync data between two or more computers on the same operating system, backup all your files with one touch of a button, or can schedule automated back up.

  • Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini

Offering the same protection as the desktop model in a travel friendly, compact design, the Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini is the first mobile storage solution that ships with a full suite of software protection tools.

Consumer Electronics

The growing diversity and sheer number of consumer electronics (CE) devices entering the market are upping the ante for storage - in terms of capacity, mobility and durability. Seagate CE storage solutions address those needs with capacities of up to a terabyte, plus wireless storage platforms and rugged hard drives.

  • Seagate Digital Audio Video Experience (D.A.V.E.)

Now available with up to 60GB of storage, Seagate's D.A.V.E. platform is an enabling technology that delivers wireless storage using Bluetooth or WiFi providing consumers with a centralized hub to bring their primary digital content with them - all without sacrificing the look and feel of their mobile device whether it is a mobile handheld device or phone, digital still camera digital, video camera, portable media player, or others. Seagate's D.A.V.E technology is customizable and designed to be branded as a technology accessory for mobile handset OEMs, networks, automobile and automotive component manufacturers, media center and DVR brands, and other companies looking to add a mobile storage accessory to their consumer solutions.

  • DB35 Series hard drives for DVRs and Home Media Centers

The fourth generation of Seagate's DB35 hard disc drive for digital video recorders (DVRs) and home media centers now provides a terabyte of capacity in a single drive. The DB35.4 hard drive family provides a range of options for DVR manufacturers to meet the requirements of all customer segments, from the entry-level 250GB drives - storing up to 50 hours of HDTV content - to the one terabyte drive that can capture up to 200 hours of high definition television.

  • SV35 Digital Video Surveillance hard drives

Seagate announced that its SV35 Series hard drives, specifically designed for digital video surveillance systems, now have a top capacity of 1TB, providing up to 32 full days of high-resolution video streaming. With nearly eight times the capacity of a 160GB hard drive, a single 1TB SV35 enables a multitude of video cameras to be deployed, significantly increasing the cost-effectiveness of the S-DVR system.

PC and Enterprise Products

As data breaches make news daily, and legal requirements for data protection and maintenance are being imposed on corporations everywhere, companies need to be more vigilant about data security. Seagate is helping with hard drives that help safeguard data against unauthorized use and help prevent damage or data loss when drives are dropped.

  • Barracuda FDE hard drive

The Barracuda FDE (full disc encryption) is a 3.5-inch, 7,200-rpm hard drive that automatically and transparently encrypts all desktop PC information with AES encryption, a government-grade security protocol. This desktop PC hard drive provides a platform for simplifying enterprise deployment of the drive, and lets organizations easily repurpose or retire desktop computers without compromising information.

  • Momentus®5400.4 hard drive

Seagate's new Momentus 5400.4 is a 250GB notebook computer hard drive with the high capacity and robust reliability that mobile computing requires. The 2.5-inch, 5400-rpm drive is the industry's only second generation notebook drive to use capacity-boosting perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology. It features a super-speedy Serial ATA 3.0 Gbit/second interface and 250GB of capacity on just two platters.

  • Cheetah 15K.6 hard drive

Seagate's Cheetah 15K.6 hard drive is the highest-performance hard drive ever in a 3.5-inch form factor, offering a 28% increase in sustained data transfer rates compared to previous generation drives. Built for the most demanding transaction-intensive enterprise servers and storage systems, the Cheetah 15K.6 uses second-generation perpendicular recording technology and is available in capacities of 147GB, 300GB and 450GB.
