New "Happy" Prepaid Mobile Service
(38 votes)

"Happy", that is the name of the new no-frills mobile service. Happy prepaid service allows customers to call any network at 1sen per second to a maximum of 99sen per call while SMSes will be at 10sen per SMS. Happy is the brainchild of four "rebel" from Digi who felt Malaysian mobile customers should have one straightforward plan and not have to pay for the "extras" they didn't need.

Image

The Happy network will be riding on Digi's infrastructure so essentially, you'll still be getting a Digi coverage. The Happy line will use the 014 suffixes and starter packs star at RM5 with RM2 worth of calls. Happy is also giving their customer longer lasting line with validity going for 60 days starting from the last reload, regardless of the reload sum.

To register with Happy, you can head over to www.happy.com.my and order a Happy pack which will be sent to you free of charge. Alternatively, you can call 014-3456789 and order it from them or pick up a pack from Happy crews who are visiting nearby Giant Hypermarkets.

Read on for more info.

Considering that you're paying a maximum of 99sen per call, this is a real good value. According to the people at Happy (it sounds weird calling them that by the way Tongue out), this price plan is doable due to Happy taking out all the extras that most people don't need like marketing campaigns, football and celebrity sponsorships, concerts and etc. All these extras cost have been worked out into the call plans of the mobile services which is why sometimes you may find it costing too much. By removing all this "extras" and just providing calls, SMS and the occasional data services, Happy is able to offer this value call plan to their customers.

Currently the Happy Mobile Service is only available as a prepaid service though, should Happy hit off well, they might consider a postpaid plan. The interesting thing is Happy shall be directly competing directly with Digi's Prepaid Mobile Service as well. Well it looks like there's going to be another prepaid price war soon and that is all good for us consumers.

Ok HERE IS THE TRUTH !

Hi, previously i wrote that Happy gives RM0.99 per call. It is true. Somehow, there is no call time limitation been wrote on their website, but on the other hand, some of the heavy user of happy prepaid managed to find the trick, the tricky thing is, this is not unlimited talk, you are limited up to 45 minutes per call. Is this true? Well, there are a lot of people shouting about this limitation at this lowyat forum itself. So check out the forum for more "Happy Trick Revealed"

yeah..its true, i just get my starter pack at giant KJ today and its only rm5. cool beb!
On the starter pack its only give u rm2 that mean u can make call only max 2 calls. so, i call my family twice almost 1 hour..ok wut, rm 2 for 1 hour?.hehe. 014 to 013
but the hard one is to reload the acct. 2 method only - using visa/mastercard (debit card cant lor) pay at their web or reload using cimb bank at atm..or cimb.com. i just new reload rm30 at cimb online.
why not accept debit card?. i know all of u using it. including me..hehe. using visa/mastercard that mean happy only targeted for adult people that have steady income. how about teenagers out there who not have visa card or there dont know how to using internet banking? i think happy must consider about it.

This is not really true that u can get unlimited call because after 45 min call it will be cut off automatically..means 0.99 cents is only for 45min talk..believe me..or try by urself..

It is not unlimited hours for 99-sen. Happy's rate is 99-sen flat for calls that last more than 99 seconds. This will be the rate for calls that last up to 45 minutes.

Hey, it is very very very TRUE about this HAPPY prepaid. Simply wonderful! Normally if i call on my Digi line to Maxis/Celcom or any landlime, i will be charged 48 per minute. That means if i talk for 3 minutes means i will be charged RM1.44, believe me, that is the rate but on the other hand, Happy charges only RM0.99. So if i talk more than 3 minutes means i save alot and alot! This is so ideal for me to provide customer service on the phone. So, i can talk to my client/customers as long as they are satisfied and at the end of call, i will be only charge RM0.99. Superb! I have been waiting for this sort of plan since long and now got it. Even this will be dynamically interesting for school students who fall in love and will spend hours talking to their girl/boy friends. The only thing i can say it Happy Happy with Happy be Happy! Let's HAPPY!

It appears Happy are not 'riding' on Digi's infrastructure. Happy is in fact just a brand of Digi. If you look a the T&C http://www.happy.com.my/tnc.aspx it says ""Happy" and the symbol are trademarks of DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DTSB")." Also when ordering it says "Upon the completion of the order, your credit card will be billed by DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd for RM 25.00".

Clearly then Happy is just a part of Digi. With Digi gaining a 3G license I'm guessing Digi is going to concentrate more on heavy users and those interested in data and MMS. Happy is going to concentrate on those interested in calls and SMS and the more light users; wanting simplicity and certainty (hence the 60 days validity and the removal of confusing intranetwork and friend charge rate variations).
