The night belonged to Manchester United.
After 2 hours of football failed to separate the sides, it was down to a heart stopping penalty shootout to decide whether the UEFA Champions League trophy went to Manchester or London.
Ultimately, in sudden death of the penalty shootout (thanks John Terry!), Edwin van der Sar's save from Nicolas Anelka's penalty ensured Manchester United were the kings of Europe, deservedly in my opinion, and crowned United double winners again.
Too much drama, too many in-your-heart moments to mention here, but one could say it was United's destiny to win it. Appropriately and fittingly, it was Sir Bobby Charlton who led the players to collect their winners' medals.
Congratulations is in order!
