Microsoft reduces price of Vista

Microsoft has announced a price revision for its Windows Vista operating system. In Asia, Malaysia is the only market to enjoy the adjusted pricing offered thru local IT partners, and is one of the only two countries in the world to adopt this strategy. Depending on the editions of the Windows Vista, price adjustments range from 10 to almost 50 percent.

This is reflected in its OEM licensing offering, a move which presents the easiest and most attractively-priced option for purchasing Windows Vista preinstalled in a PC, as well as its stand-alone retail packs. According to Mr. KT Ng, Director, Client Business Group, Business Marketing Organization, the strategy will also increases the product's relevance to the mainstream IT industry in view of the dropping prices of computer hardware and peripherals. As a result, the overall package is now more affordable to consumers, in addition to increasing user confidence in its genuine products.

Microsoft firmly believes that the increased affordability of Windows Vista Home Premium will enhance digital empowerment to a wider cross-section of Malaysian consumers and users and allow more to experience the rich features of a digital lifestyle. It will also ensure consumers and users' computer are well protected from security attacks.

Good side of Microsoft. Anyway, i already used Windows Vista Ultimate. It's really cool & great OS (except for their lags performance behind XP) with animated videos running as wallpaper on your desktop which they called them "Dreamscene" pack and another company, Stardock was also released another quality type of software to support Dreamscene in action which they called them "Deskcapes". Unfortunately, my vista ultimate x64 was not capable to find a lot of 64-bit software 'coz not so many company produces software in 64-bit edition. For the future, i thought it's very good because the graphics looks awesome on 64-bit edition. Already used the so-called Windows 7 beta function on my Vista. It enhanced a lot of tweaks function. thumbsuphappy-smiley

They have to reduce the prices, because they already developed the new Microsoft OS, and will release in 2010.

But I hope that new OS is for server system, because nowadays, many company use Windows Server 2003 Edition.

It's no doubt they want to drop their Vista prices.

Just like AMD, they knew their processor is not best as Intel today, so they have to play with the price to get the profit back from their investment.

After all it depends to customer or end user itself what system are suitable for them. Not the manufacturer make their judge.

Customer ALWAYS Rights, Customer IS The TRULY Judges

People have changed. Microsoft has loss their face to the markets. Vista's sales has drop comparing to forecast. That's why they reduce the price to maintain the popularity and gain no of users across the world if they want to survive. Now they plan to replace Vista to Windows 7 in 2009/2010.
