Maybank2u reverts to classic, Etiqa suffers defacement

In a follow up to our story last week, it seems that Maybank2u has temporarily accepted the fact that their new M2U 2.0 banking portal is virtually impossible to use - and have routed back all links to their classic M2U site. It works and in the fast paced world of online banking, that's all that matters.

We've also been informed that the Etiqa Insurance and Takaful website which is also owned by the Maybank Group was defaced over the weekend by Cuciotak, who has in the past been responsible for the defacement of the UiTM and MalaysianGP sites. At time of writing, the defaced site has been taken down, but both the Etiqa.com.my and Mni.com.my domains remain inaccessible. Google has a cache of the defaced site here.

Credits to azhamr for the heads up on the defacement.

Update 8.00pm : The Etiqa websites are back online now.

Glad to hear they revert to the old design. The new design simply requires too much network traffic and processing.Well for me I think they really need to work on their online stock.Running using activex instead of Java. Furthermore, it crashes IE7 on Vista if you click on certain button. Already complaint to them for more than a year still no fix yet. Think about time to move to other online stock. sad-smiley

Biasa lar. Malaysians mar. We only know how to hantam and taruh baik punya but never give idea how to do it better.

Let hope this is a learning lesson for them and hopefully their tech team do a better testing on scalability before deploying such a huge change.

Any new large scale IT system implementation like M2U always need time for stabilization. Likewise for The Star, Air Asia, and MAS websites. All of them suffer some bad time at the beginning of new launches. Worst of all, M2U already has already HUGE number of visitors daily before they migrate. Therefore, sure they'll have problem at the beginning! Give the Team time! thumbsup
