The recent influx of netbooks and light weight, low powered machines to the marketplace has made shopping for a hardcore, no-BS, no compromise machine a much harder task. That however isn’t going to be an issue for much longer, because Lenovo have just launched a monster of a notebook today.
The IdeaPad Y550P not only comes powered with an Intel Core i7 processor, but is also fully decked out with 4GB of RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce GT240M 1GB card, 500GB of storage, and a Blu-ray Disc combo drive. That’s all pretty snazzy for a notebook, but what really makes this machine stand out from the competiton is it’s relatively affordible price tag – all that can be yours for a mere RM4799!
On a side note, I was fortunate enough to play around with the Y550P for a full day when I was locked up in the window display for the recent Blogathon KL (http://bit.ly/blogathon-kl) and my initial thoughts on this hulk can be found here – (http://bit.ly/2mqQVP).
Lenovo also used this launch to unveil their own take on Windows 7 called Windows 7 Enhanced Experience. Proprietary to Lenovo, this tweaked version of Windows 7 offers 30% faster boot up time, 50% faster shut down time as well as improved system performance and better integration with Lenovo’s software suites (such as OneKey Rescue System) thanks to a series of driver and BIOS tweaks.
