JVC today introduced the Everio S, its first SD Card memory camcorder for consumers. The Everio S features a one touch button for uploading videos directly to YouTube and another first in an Everio is the use of Konica Minolta lens.
The GZ-MS100, the first of the Everio series to utilize the ever expanding size of the flash SD Card memory instead of a hard disk drive. However unlike any other "toy camcorder" that also utilizes the SD Card, the Everio S comes with an impressive array of camcorder features similar to its other Everio brothers. 35X Optical Zoom, Image Stabilizer are just some of the features included. Besides the one touch YouTube upload feature, it also includes a one
touch DVD burning provided you get the optional portable DVD burner
which doesn't require it to be connected to a PC.

Tauted as a point and shoot camcorder, the Everio S is remarkably
small and light, just 270g with the standard battery included. The
shape of the camcorder itself is contoured so that it fits in the hand
securely. Operation is also very simple, with the unit turning on and
ready to be used within 1 sec of the opening of the LCD. And instead of
the usual touch screen, we get something called a Laser Touch Operation
which is like a virtual scroll bar beside the LCD. This in reality is
better since you won't be touching and smearing the screen with your
fingerprints.
On a 4GB SDHC card, you can get 1 hour of filming at the highest
quality (Ultra), 1 hour 20 minutes at Fine, 1 hour 50 minutes at Normal
and 5 hours for Eco or Internet streaming quality. However as YouTube
only allows 10 minutes clips to be uploaded, a feature that limits the
recording to 10 minutes can be turned on.
The included battery is rated to last for about 2 hours but higher
capacity batteries are available up to 6.5 hours of recording time.
The
only drawback is that this camcorder will only work on Windows, Mac
users are left out as market survey (according to JVC) has shown that
the percentage of users are too small to justify software and drivers.
Nevertheless,
it should still be quite a hot product as the introductory price is set
at RM1,499 and includes a free 4GB SDHC memory card.
