Go Mini with HP

With small form factor notebooks like the Asus EEE PC getting rave reviews and hype, it's no surprise that almost every other manufacturer and brand is heading that route. After all nothing screams sexy and cool then a small cute little notebook being toted around. So in comes HP with its entrant to the small notebook market, with their HP 2133 Mini-Note PC or HP Mini for short.

As HP’s first 8.9 inch WXGA widescreen ultra-mobile mini notebook, the HP Mini has a simple yet refined design that features one of the largest usable QWERTY keyboard and touchpad for a superior computing experience. Weighing in at only 1.19 kg, the HP Mini has a sleek anodised aluminium casing with a durable magnesium alloy structure As an added security measure, there are no visible screws on the notebook to prevent tampering and thereby enhancing its aesthetics at the same time.

The Mini Note is already available and is retailing at the price of RM2,299 with Microsoft Windows OS. Read on for more info or go here for technical specs.

Other features include:

  • An optional integrated VGA Webcam that allows for still-image capture, web conferencing, and video-enhanced instant messaging on the go
  • Built-in speakers and microphones
  • Full wireless features with a choice of Wi-Fi Certified WLAN and Bluetooth
  • Extended Battery life with two battery solutions - the standard 3-cell battery for lightest-weight configurations (2 hours and 15 minutes); or 6-cell version for longer battery life (4 hours and 30 minutes)
  • HP DuraKeys, featuring a clear coating applied over the notebook keyboard that protects the finish and the printed characters; makes it 50 times more resistant to wear than other keyboards
  • HP 3D DriveGuard, which sends a signal to shut down the hard drive to protect its data upon sudden movement or shock, thanks to its three-axis digital accelerometer chip

I was at the event last week at Pavilion! It is hell of a cool event, especially the HP Mini impresses me the most.

Dont think the slowness is because of the machine, it is the connection instability in the mall. I tested it on youtube, chatting on MSN and listening to music all at the same time, it ALL went fine with me.

i must say this is a hell of a great must have product to have!!!
i am rating it 9/10!!!!

Tested the Atom 1.6 with Hyper-Threading; it is slower than the previous Conroe-L 1.2Ghz Celeron; so I think VIA has a better product here with lower power consumption

Probably need a faster CPU and a cam builtin. Built quality is good, but if its cheaper and an ATOM processor included will be better
