We hope that the image above doesn’t spook your Monday evening.
It was taken during a “funeral” that
took place last week; for the much beloved (or hated) internet browser named Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.
Organized by Aten
Design Group, it supposed to take place at their office but they decided to
move to a bigger venue when the event received a sudden surge of interest after
highlight by a number of high profile media outlet. According to the obituary
at the funeral’s official website, IE6's cause of death was due to “workplace injury
sustained at the headquarters of Google, Inc.” which actually a reference to
Google’s decision to pull out their support for out-dated browsers.
Even the Internet Explorer developers themselves took
interest of the occasion. They sent over some flowers, complete with a personified
hand-written message. Quite a farewell, isn't it?
Well, so long then IE6. Thanks for all the beautiful (and
hellish) moments that we had together.
