Enhanced features now in Facebook for BlackBerry v1.6

BlackBerry users will be happy to know that Facebook has recently released version 1.6 of their popular mobile app, Facebook for BlackBerry. This free application is available for download OTA (over the air) via your BlackBerry browser at http://www.blackberry.com/facebook, and features various enhanced features such as a new News Feed page, the ability to write and view walls directly through the application (previous versions require mobile site login), enhanced photo viewing and tagging capabilities, as well as improved language support.

As a BlackBerry user myself, I found the Facebook for BlackBerry interface way more accessible than the web interface. Unlike the cluttered Twitter-esque facelift that the web version received not so long ago, the BlackBerry version is very neat and easy to navigate.

You won't get flooded with those God aweful quiz notifications or hundreds of annoying requests to install new Facebook applications. Instead, you'll find your calendar synced up directly to your Facebook calendar, and your contact list automatically updated with additional contact details of your Facebook friends such their email address, office number, fax number, and even contact picture!

To get connected to Facebook on your BlackBerry, all you need is an active data plan, a Facebook account, a Blackberry device with 64MB of memory, 590kb of free space, and BlackBerry Device Software version 4.2 or later.
