Just when you thought print media was turning into something passé, the boys from Esquire (USA, of course) sprung up and hit us right in the face with an e-ink panel on the front cover of their October issue.
I was in the print magazine industry for about 4 years prior to joining Lowyat.NET, and I've got to say that this is one hell of a ballsy (and not to mention, expensive) move - sure it's relatively low-tech when compared to all the snazzy stuff you get with gadgets these days, but don't forget that we're talking about a good, old fashioned, tangible magazine cover here. Unfortunately, it's hard to say if we'll ever see something like this popping up in a local bookstand any time soon, but I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one here who wishes that it'll one day become a reality.
More information on the e-ink cover at the Esquire website here, as well video of the e-ink cover in action here.
