Less than two months after launching in the Klang Valley, DiGi Broadband has today announced that they are now officially available in Sabah and Penang.
Currently, DiGi Broadband has 44% population coverage in Kota Kinabalu and 31% population coverage in Penang island. However, according to the press release DiGi is going to allocate up to RM150 million of its total capital expenditure for the next three years, in direct investment to roll out even more 3G broadband in these two states.
“Our immediate deployment focus is in key urban centers before we move to other areas around Malaysia. While we are keen to quickly expand our broadband service to more locations, we are steadfast in ensuring quality of service where we do have coverage. We will take this strategy seriously in our expansion plan” -- Johan Dennelind, Chief Executive Officer, DiGi
Johan also went on to comment that DiGi has received very good response to their Likely Average Speed (LAS) promise for providing consistent broadband experiences rather than the industry practice of promising unachievable theoretical speeds, and believes that this honest approach has helped consumers to be more confident in signing up for the service.
In conjunction with the launch of DiGi Broadband in these two states, DiGi is also offering free modems for subscription to its Explore and Extreme plans worth RM360 and RM600 respectively.
